I came to live at Kaptagat Children’s Home when I was 16 years old. It is very uncommon for someone who is
already a teenager to be given the opportunity to be part of a children’s home and yet my past was so horrific I am thankful that an exception was made for me. Both of my parents had passed away by the time I came to the home. Before they died both of my parents were
alcoholics and were frequently in prison. My older siblings were dropping out of school and running away from the family. I had no hope. I am thankful that I have finished high school and will be joining college.
