I came to live at Mahiga Children’s Home when I was nine years old and it was amazing. Both of my parents had died from HIV/AIDS complications. My older brother went to live with one relative while I was sent to a distant aunt. She could not even care for her own family and provide food for them, and certainly not for me. She began mistreating me because I was an added burden to her. She would kick me out of the house at night and I would have to sleep in the bush. I am excited to join 8th grade (Class 8) and finish my primary education. Last year I was #2 in my class.
