My mom was never married.  We lived with my uncle on my grandparents land.  My mom was irresponsible and an alcoholic.  One night when she was on one of her drinking binges with a male friend, she was found dead near the gate to our home. She had bruises all over her body.  My uncle could not take care of my brother, Ephantus, and I . We did not have any family who could care for us.  We were desperate.  I’m so thankful that both of us were able to come to Mahiga Children’s Home.  I  am joining 7th grade (Class 7) at the start of the school year.  In Class 6 I  was in the top 10 students of my class.
