When I was four years old my mom passed away from unknown causes. She was not married and I do not know my father. We had been living with my grandparents and were left under their care, although they had nothing and it was so difficult to survive. We often went without food and did not attend school. My sister, Maureen, and I came to live at Mahiga Children’s Home when I was 8 years old. It is hard to believe that I have completed high school and am in my first year of trade school. I’m studying welding and fabrication.
